Twice a year, the PVSC sponsors a fire mitigation effort - to attempt to remove as much dry fuel from the neighborhoos.

Due to COVID and our EXCEPTIONAL follow-through for our Spring Session, we have instigated some new “rules” for our Fall Session.

  1. Fall Session will continue to be social distancing and use of a mask when around people.

  2. All paperwork (attached) is to be completed prior to arriving. If you paid at the Spring Session, all we need is for you to check in at your first delivery on the day of the event and drop off the Firewise forms attached.  We use the forms for our application as a Firewise community.  If you haven't paid for this calendar year, please complete the PVSC Membership form as well and either $20 cash or a check made out to PVSC.

  3. Something new this time!  For planning purposes regarding the dumpsters, we need you to make a reservation if you plan on bringing more than 10 lawn bags total. This is not to discourage you from doing mitigation, we need to know if we have more bags than one dumpster will hold so that we can order an additional dumpster. Please reserve additional bags prior to Sept. 14.IF you aren't sure how much you will have, please let us know.  Many of you are aware that we were unable to predict how many people would in the spring and we underestimated the number of dumpsters needed.  Our goal is to prevent this from happening again.

  4. Nothing can be left at the dumpster prior to 9am on Sept. 19 th or after 2pm on Sept. 19 th . Any variation of this rule has to be approved by a board member. There will be cameras to make sure this doesn’t happen again.  This event is only possible due to the kindness of the Wescott Fire Department and we must respect their property.

The use of the chipper and dumpster is free for Pleasant View Service Club members.  The cost for non-members is $20.00 (the cost of membership).  Some important details:

  1. The Chipper with firefighters will be available from 9 am to 2pm.

  2. The Chipper can chip up to 10” wood and branches.  It can not be used to chip treated wood..

  3. PVSC will be paying for a total of two dumpsters:   one dumpster for all the slash and one dumpster for pine needles and other yard waste that is a fire hazard on your property. This can include yard waste in plastic bags.  Due to this, it is imperative that you let us know if you are bringing more than 10 bags (or equivalent).  We do have the ability to order a second dumpster if we know in advance that you are bringing more than the 10 bags we have allocated.

  4. We will have people who can pick up slash or bags if you do not have any way to bring them yourself. You need to reserve pick-up prior to Sept. 16th.  Homeowners will be responsible for loading the slash onto the trailer or truck. If you are physically unable, let us know and we will find a way to help!

  5. If you have your own truck or trailer, bring down your slash or leaves between 9 and 2PM.
